GETTING HERE: Using Google Maps or a Navigation System, a great address to use is Kellogg Eye Center’s:
Kellogg Eye Center, 1000 Wall St, Ann Arbor, MI 48105
This should be pretty easy access from Main Street (Depot) or Fuller or Pontiac Trail or Plymouth.
PARKING:
To park near the START, map yourself to the Kellogg Eye Center and park in the lots between Wall and Canal or between Wall and Maiden Lane. If you do this, you might want to give yourself enough time to trot your shirt back to your car (if you bought one) before heading to the START line in Riverside Park (back side of Kellogg Eye Center) on the path right next to the river. *** OR pick up your shirt at the race finish – just don’t forget! After the race finishes in Kerrytown, you’ll walk back over the Broadway bridge (Broadway and Beakes are the same road). This 0.54 mile walk takes about 9 minutes from the FINISH, going through the Artisans Market, past Zingerman’s, over the Broadway bridge on the downstream (right side), to the parking lots on the right. Here is a map of one route: WALKING ROUTE BETWEEN FINISH AND START
To park near the FINISH, park in any legal street spots (free on Sundays) downtown – off Main, any side streets, in the spots on Detroit Street, in the lots at Community High School accessed off Fifth Street (this is a one way heading SOUTH) – really anywhere nearby. Then walk the route from the FINISH to the parking lots near the START, and from there walk 0.2 miles or so to the START line on the path by the river in Riverside Park. If you do THIS, you can warm up a bit on the way to the START (give yourself enough time!) – and maybe you’d have a car closer by at the end if you feel like hanging around Kerrytown or buying something from the Artisans. ***If you purchased a shirt, you should wait to pick it up after you finish the race – just don’t forget!
OTHER SUGGESTIONS: (1) Bring a little cash ($15 for a shirt) or credit card if you want to buy something in Kerrytown at Zingerman’s or in the market.
(2) Packet pickup on race day is plenty smooth if you arrive with enough time – you’ll look your number up on an Alpha List that morning, then just ask for that bib number.
(3) Check back to this page and to the race web page or Electric Bolt Facebook page on Friday or Saturday (or like the page), as we may post a link to the preliminary Alpha List for anyone registered by Friday – so you can get your number in advance.
(4) If you live in town, you may want to save yourself a few minutes Sunday morning by visiting Ann Arbor Running Company SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 1-4pm. As long as you registered by Friday at 5pm or so, you should make it onto the list for SATURDAY Packet Pickup.
Ann Arbor Running Company’s location, address, directions, phone, etc. are here: www.annarborrunningcompany.com/about/
Also – BRING A FRIEND! People can still register race morning… we’ll post on Facebook if we hit the cap, so check first…
Finally – RUN HAPPY!
