On this 10th day of August of our 10th anniversary year, we reflect on the quickly passing summer. The season for events like the Box Car Derby, Twinkie Run, youth swimathons, and the Electric Bolt saw hundreds of participants swimming, running, walking or racing toward a finish line to raise funds for cutting edge ALS research toward effective treatments and a cure. With the dedicated efforts of researchers, and your support, that “finish line” is also on the horizon. Let’s move forward, together, with renewed determination!

On this 10th day of June of our 10th anniversary year, we are reminded how the loveliness of spring gives way to the splendors of summer. Earlier this spring, after carefully reviewing several research proposals, our esteemed Scientific Advisory Board forwarded their recommendations for funding to our board for final approval. We are pleased to be funding the dedicated and diligent work of two promising researchers: Sami Barmada M.D. (Neurology) and Asim A. Beg Ph.D. (Department of Pharmacology) at the University of Michigan. We are funding each of these researchers $50,000/year for up to two years. Your ACTIVE support continues to help us achieve our mission to increase awareness about ALS and create a compassionate community while raising funds for critically needed research. THANK YOU!

This 10th day of May of our 10th Anniversary Year has been proclaimed “ALS Awareness Day in Ann Arbor”. We are extremely grateful to Mayor Taylor, the City Council and the hundreds of supporters from near and far who support our efforts. Our organization draws its strength from the energy, enthusiasm and creativity that people of all ages have brought to this fight. For nearly a decade, YOU have been determined, persistent and ACTIVE in helping us achieve our mission to increase awareness about ALS and create a compassionate community while raising funds for critically needed research.
